Foreign investors arriving in Australia intending to purchase property should be aware that there are a few hoops they will need to jump through. Generally, foreign individuals will need to obtain approval from the Foreign Investment Review Board before acquiring an interest in residential land, regardless of the value. There are no limits to the amount of new dwellings, vacant land, and/or established dwellings that foreign residents can purchase for redevelopment with approval. However, only one established dwelling can be purchased to live in.
