New year, new scams

Scammers are taking advantage of this time of the year when people are still in holiday-mode with a new ATO impersonation scam on social media. These fraudsters are scouting out public conversations on platforms such as Twitter and Facebook where people have either asked the ATO a question or have made complaints about the ATO. Imitating the PR playbook of large companies, the fraudsters will then swoop in with a fake ATO profile and offer to help or follow-up a complaint, but only after the potential victim provides their personal information through a link.
