The government will soon commence consultation on the abolishment of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal which will be replaced with a new federal administrative review body. The decision follows what the Labor government considers to be irreversible damage caused by the former government to appoint various related associates without a merit-based selection process. Current cases before the AAT wi ll continue. Taxpayers that have already applied to the AAT for a review of a decision will not need to submit a new application.
